Tour Highlights

Every story we tell, someone claims happened to them

Good evening. My name…is unimportant. But you can call me the Midnight Conductor.

Every story I tell you tonight, someone claims has happened to them. Whether these stories are actually true—I leave up to you to decide.

What really happened in Room 202 of the Fort Garry Hotel—and why did a sitting Member of Parliament flee barefoot into the lobby in the middle of the night? Who was the man the press dubbed the “Gorilla Strangler,” and why does Winnipeg have a more personal connection to him than most people know? And what exactly did a Winnipeg geologist encounter in Whiteshell Provincial Park in 1967—the incident so well-documented it remains the most-investigated UFO sighting in Canadian history?

Join the Midnight Conductor on the Trolley of Terror to learn the stories left out of the history books—the gruesome, the eerie, and the genuinely unexplained. Winnipeg has a darker past than most of its residents realize, and this tour is the most entertaining way to discover it.

Exclusive nighttime access to two haunted houses

Your ticket includes exclusive after-hours access to two of Winnipeg’s most storied buildings—not just a drive-by, but time inside both.

Seven Oaks House has stood for nearly 200 years, and most Winnipeggers have never set foot in it. Staff still report unexplained footsteps, figures crossing the lawn at night, and at least one room that seems to make visitors suddenly, inexplicably ill—until they step back outside.

Dalnavert was built by the son of Canada’s first Prime Minister, and carries more than a century of tragedy within its walls. Your guide will walk you through the Victorians’ extraordinary—and sometimes deeply unsettling—relationship with death, mourning, and the people they weren’t ready to let go of.

See the sites of Winnipeg’s shocking ghostly encounters

This tour will take you past many of the city’s haunted buildings so our guide can tell you their tales, including:

  • The Fort Garry Hotel, Winnipeg’s most famously haunted building, and the final destination of a story involving a young bride, a streetcar, and a closet door that won’t stay shut
  • The Vaughan Street Jail, site of 13 executions and the Winnipeg arrest of a man who would become the first person in history called a “serial killer”
  • The Masonic Temple, reportedly haunted not by one ghost, but by an overwhelming number of them; when a cook chased a mysterious figure all the way to the locked attic, what he found inside the wall has never been fully explained
  • The Manitoba Theatre Centre, where a child ghost has called the building home for decades, and once made his feelings about a particular play unmistakably clear
  • Pantages Playhouse Theatre, where two figures still seem to be working out a betrayal that began in the Yukon Gold Rush and was never quite resolved

The perfect night out in Winnipeg

A night out that actually surprises you Whether it’s a date night, a birthday, or something different to do with friends—this tour combines history, storytelling, and just the right amount of spooky. No prior interest in ghosts required. Genuine curiosity about Winnipeg’s past is enough.

Bringing the family? The Trolley of Terror is best suited for curious kids aged 10 and up who enjoy a good story. Younger children are welcome at parents’ discretion—the tour covers some dark historical moments, but it’s always about storytelling, never shock value.

Paranormal history brought to life

Our guides don’t read from a script—they perform one. Every story on this tour has been researched, refined, and told thousands of times in front of real Winnipeg audiences who know when they’re being shortchanged. The result is a two-hour experience that moves fast, goes deep, and leaves you thinking about it on the drive home.

There’s a reason we’ve been Winnipeg’s #1 tour company on TripAdvisor for 12 years running. Our guests are locals. They’re not easy to impress—and they keep coming back.

Win a night in the haunted Room 202

Over the course of the tour, take a photo of your favourite haunted site, post it to social media, and tag @WinnipegTrolley—and you’ll be entered to win a one-night stay in the Fort Garry Hotel’s infamous Room 202, on the night before Halloween.

No social media? Email your photo to us directly and you’re in.

(Previous winners have left notes about their experience tucked behind the picture frame in the room. Some of those notes are not easy to read.)
